Recruitment Collection Statement

This Recruitment Privacy Collection Statement provides you with some important information about our collection of personal information that you provide as part of your application for employment with us. 

Development Victoria (DV) is committed to protecting your privacy. The information you provide will be used to manage your employment (or application for employment) with DV. Some of the information we collect is required to meet DV's legal obligations under taxation, superannuation, workers' compensation, occupational health and safety and other employment related laws.

We collect personal information that is reasonably necessary for us to evaluate your application for employment.

We may collect personal and sensitive information at different times during the application process to support the application process, or to make reasonable adjustments as required. For example, from your initial application, at interview, and when checking references.

When managing your employment, DV may be required to disclose your information to:

  • to our service providers (such as our IT and analytics service providers);
  • the government for taxation, superannuation, or reporting purposes;
  • where disclosure is necessary to prevent injury to life or health; or
  • if required or authorised by or under an Australian law or a court/tribunal order.

If your interview is successful, we will conduct pre-employment screening which may require DV to disclose your person information to third parties including:

  • your referees (or the organisations they represent);
  • our criminal records check supplier; and
  • recruitment agencies or other third parties assisting us with recruitment for the position you are applying for.

We also may disclose your personal information overseas if you ask us to contact an overseas referee, or if we request an international criminal records check. Prior to doing this, we will seek your consent.

Should you choose not to provide the information, DV may not be able to offer you employment or effectively manage your employment or entitlements.

You can request access to the personal information you have provided by emailing people.enquiries@development.vic.gov.au or calling DV on (03) 8317 3433. We ask that you notify us of any changes to your personal information.

We will otherwise collect, hold, use and disclose your personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy which sets out how you may access and correct the personal information that we hold about you and how to complain about a suspected breach of your privacy or about how we have handled your personal information.
